Kids of Courage 2025
Another confidence-building, life-altering
summer for Kids of Courage is behind us.
For three weeks this summer, we welcomed back Kids of Courage: 54 Bar and Bat Mitzvah-aged children of severely injured Israeli veterans.
The Kids were generously hosted at long-established camps: Camp George, New Moon, Northland-B’nai Brith, Wahanowin, and Walden where they shared cabins and exciting activities with Canadian campers.
Before and after camp, our young Israeli visitors explored Toronto’s sites, made their way to Niagara Falls, and met members of the community.
Kids of Courage is a break from the daily challenges of being the child of an injured parent. Their parents in Israel are happy to know their sons and daughters are simply being kids and enjoying new experience after new experience. At camp, friendships develop as the Israelis and Canadians discover more similarities in their lives than differences.
This Beit Halochem Canada initiative is co-ordinated in collaboration with volunteers, many of whom are children of disabled veterans, including the Kids’ chaperones. Some of these young adults benefited from the program as Kids.
Injury affects the entire family. Knowing this, we have welcomed the children of Israel’s disabled veterans since 2014 and are already looking ahead to the 2026 season.
