State-of-the-Art Therapy and Facilities
Beit Halochem is a place where the disabled can regain their dignity and quality of life. These courageous men and women have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the state of Israel. After they leave the hospital, Beit Halochem Canada is there to help them rebuild their lives.
Members are encouraged to participate in sports and related activities suited to their individual disabilities. There are also many social and arts based programs offered at the Centres, which range in size from 5,500 square meters to 10,000 square meters.
Most Centres are equipped with an auditorium, multipurpose gymnasium, classrooms, fitness rooms, swimming pool, occupational therapy unit, physical therapy unit, cafeteria, offices and a social wing.
Treatment in the physical therapy institute complements other measures in the rehabilitation process. It is also available, if necessary, to members whose health has deteriorated over the years. A team of skilled physical therapists treats members referred to the institute by rehabilitation specialists in hospitals, or by clinics of the Defence Ministry's Rehabilitation Division.
A great deal of thought and effort went into design and construction at Beit Halochem. All facilities are specially adapted to various disabilities. Particular attention was paid to the needs of the blind and those confined to wheelchairs. Ways were found to make it possible for them to participate in most of the sports, classes, and social events held on the premises.
